Before you apply for a grant, training or tender
Check the source, deadline and requirements before sharing documents or paying a fee.
Find the original announcement
Start with the organisation’s own website. A forwarded screenshot may leave out an important condition or show an old deadline. Follow the official source linked from an opportunity briefing and compare the programme name, dates and contact details.
Check who can apply
Read the location, business type, age, registration and experience requirements. Note whether the opportunity is a grant, loan, training place, procurement tender or competition. These are different offers with different obligations. Reading an announcement does not mean you qualify or have been selected.
Prepare a document checklist
List each required document and check that it is current and readable. Use the application portal specified by the organiser. Keep copies of what you submit and save the confirmation reference. Do not give your bank password, card PIN or one-time sign-in code to an applicant support contact.
Understand costs and deadlines
Confirm any fee through the organiser’s official instructions before paying. Check the closing date and time zone. Allow time to correct documents and upload errors. Be cautious about messages that promise guaranteed selection or demand urgent payment to a personal account.
Use the Obit briefing as a starting point
The opportunities section links to official sources and may include eligibility notes, application steps and document lists. Check the latest terms on the original website before applying. Contact the organiser directly when a requirement is unclear.
